Methane lake on Titan

The image at left, taken by NASA's Cassini spacecraft, reveals a giant methane lake in the north polar region of Titan, Saturn's largest moon. The lake is the same size as Lake Superior, the largest of the Great Lakes, shown at right. This close-up view offers strong evidence for seas on Titan. Scientists theorize that the methane lake was created by liquid methane rain.
